Marcus Stroman Interested In Multi-Year Deal
7 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher, who will implement a sidearm delivery this year to keep hitters off balance, is interested in a multi-year contract extension with the team after losing out in salary arbitration this week. While Stroman expressed frustration with the team on Twitter after his arbitration case, both he and general manager Ross Atkins continue to talk, and their relationship remains strong. Stroman proved to be the Blue Jays ace in 2017 with Aaron Sanchez dealing with blister problems, posting a strong 3.09 ERA and 1.30 WHIP while going 13-9 over 33 starts. The Blue Jays haven't presented Stroman with a formal offer, but the right-hander wants to stay in Toronto long term. He generates plenty of weak contact and is a ground-ball pitcher, which helps make up for the fact that he pitches in an extremely generous hitter's park and lacks strikeout upside.
