4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Marcus Stroman (calf) surprisingly announced on Monday that he is opting out for the remainder of the 2020 baseball season due to concerns related to COVID-19. Stroman had been set to throw a simulated game on Tuesday as he was drawing closer to a return to the Mets after his calf injury suffered in late July. This is a shocking and rough blow to the Mets starting staff which also lost Noah Syndergaard (elbow) to a season-ending injury back in March. Stroman, who is eligible for free agency this upcoming offseason, may have played his final game for the Mets given this decision to opt-out. Owners in redraft leagues should now go ahead and drop Stroman.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
