Marcus Stroman Placed On IL With Left Calf Muscle Tear
4 years agoMRI results Wednesday revealed that New York Mets starting pitcher Marcus Stroman has been diagnosed with a left calf muscle tear. He has been placed on the injured list. It does not appear he will need surgery, but it is unclear how long Stroman will be sidelined. Depending on the severity of the muscle tear, he may be lost for the duration of the shortened 2020 season. Combined with the season-ending injury to Noah Syndergaard (elbow), this is a brutal blow to the Mets starting pitching staff. If he can return at some point in the season, Stroman makes for an excellent option in mixed leagues as a back-end fantasy starter. That said, right now it remains in doubt whether he can provide any significant contribution to the Mets or owners in redraft leagues in 2020.
