Marcus Stroman Works Five Frames In Sim Game
4 years agoNew York Mets right-handed pitcher Marcus Stroman continues to work his way back to the big league roster from a left calf tear. Manager Luis Rojas revealed that Stroman tossed five innings and roughly 80 pitches during a simulated game Thursday, although another sim game will be required next week before the team will consider activating him for his season debut. Left-hander David Peterson has held down Stroman’s rotation spot admirably, striking out 11 batters in 11 ⅔ innings. In addition to starting Saturday, it appears Peterson will get at least one additional start next week before Stroman comes back into the fold. Michael Wacha and Rick Porcello also remain candidates to be bumped from the rotation upon Stroman’s return.
