Mariners Also Expressing Interest In Matt Harvey
7 years agoTo update a previous item, there is at least one other team in addition to the Texas Rangers showing a slight degree of interest in former New York Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey -- the Seattle Mariners. There’s not much to this rumor right now other than “major league sources” indicate the Mariners are intrigued. The Mariners would be an interesting destination for Harvey, assuming they have interest in him as a starting pitcher and not a reliever. The current rotation of Felix Hernandez, James Paxton, Mike Leake, Marco Gonzales and Wade LeBlanc definitely has a lot of room on the back end for improvement. However, the chances of Harvey actually being an improvement are slim. This is likely all for naught. The odds are the Mets fail to find a trade partner and release Harvey, he instead signs a minor league deal and doesn’t reach the majors prior to getting released again.
