Mariners Avoid Arbitration With J.P. Crawford
3 years agoThe Seattle Mariners avoided salary arbitration with shortstop J.P. Crawford on Tuesday by agreeing on a one-year, $4.85 million deal. Crawford is a defense-first player, but the 27-year-old had his best season offensively in 2021 when he hit .273/.338/.376 with a career-high nine home runs, 54 RBI and 89 runs scored in 687 plate appearances over 160 games for the M's. At a premier position with plenty of power-hitting options now available, Crawford isn't very enticing in fantasy leagues, outside of deep mixed and AL-only leagues as a middle infield option.
