3 years agoSeattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto stated Tuesday that the club would have interest in Japanese outfielder Seiya Suzuki if he is indeed posted by the Hiroshima Carp as has been reported. Suzuki, a 27-year-old right-handed outfielder, has been one of the best players in NPB over the last several years, slashing .315/.415/.571 with 182 homers and 82 steals in 901 games. Any team to sign Suzuki would owe Hiroshima 20% of the value of the contract's first $25 million dollars, with the percentage decreasing for any additional salary. He is expected to draw plenty of interest, though the Mariners seem a less obvious fit with Mitch Haniger, Jarred Kelenic, Julio Rodriguez, Kyle Lewis, and others in the outfield mix.--Doug Goldring - RotoBaller
