Mark Canha Retreats To The Bench
2 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Mark Canha is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies. It appears to just be a normal day off for Canha, who has gone 11-for-40 (.275) with a homer, eight RBI and eight runs scored in 16 games so far in the month of August. The 33-year-old is having a fine season in his first year in the Big Apple, slashing .272/.372/.392 with eight round-trippers, 42 RBI, 51 runs scored and two stolen bases in 324 at-bats. Tyler Naquin is starting in left field and batting seventh against Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola. Naquin has been much better against right-handed pitchers in 2022, going 48-for-177 (.271) with eight of his 10 home runs in 66 games.
