Mark Canha Sitting In Game 1
2 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Mark Canha is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. Canha also sat out Friday night's win over the Phillies, but he'll almost certainly return for the nightcap in Game 2. The 33-year-old isn't flashy, but he's had a solid year in his first year with the Mets, slashing .272/.372/.392 with eight home runs, 42 RBI, 51 runs scored and two stolen bases in 324 at-bats. Tyler Naquin will get a second straight start in left field and will hit seventh against Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler in Game 1. Naquin went 0-for-5 with five strikeouts in Friday night, although he's hitting .278 (10-for-36) with three home runs and six RBI in 15 games in August, and he's been much better against righties in 2022.
