Mark Giordano Signs Two-Year Contract With Maple Leafs
3 years agoDefenseman Mark Giordano has signed a two-year, $1.6 million contract with the Maple Leafs on Sunday. The deal has an average annual value of $800,000, as the 38-year-old blueliner could have become an unrestricted free agent in July. Giordano was traded to the Maple Leafs ahead of the NHL trade deadline in March, and the veteran defenseman contributed two goals, 10 assists, and a plus-12 rating in 20 regular season games on the contending club. In the first round series of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Lightning, Giordano recorded two assists through seven games. Giordano is no longer the fantasy contributor which he once was during his time with the Flames, but the former Norris Trophy winner can provide value in deeper formats as a member of the Maple Leafs for the upcoming season.
