7 years agoThe Washington Nationals have signed free-agent first baseman Mark Reynolds, according to Jon Heyman of Fan Rag Sports. The 34-year-old veteran played with the Rockies last year and hit .267 with 30 home runs, 97 RBI and 82 runs scored. He also increased his walk rate to 11.6 percent and his ISO went to .219, his highest in four seasons. He's notoriously strikeout-prone, however, and last year hovered at a 30 percent strikeout rate. The Nationals currently have Ryan Zimmerman at first, but he's off to a sluggish start. Backup Matt Adams is not very exciting, so this is a good fit for Reynolds. He'll presumably report to Triple-A Syracuse, though the terms of his contract haven't been disclosed yet. Keep an eye on his call-up later this summer.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
