3 years agoThe Miami Marlins avoided salary arbitration on Tuesday with first baseman/outfielder Garrett Cooper by agreeing to a one-year, $2.5 million deal. The 31-year-old hit a strong .284/.380/.465 with an .845 OPS, nine home runs, 33 RBI and 30 runs scored in 250 plate appearances over 71 games in his fourth season with the Marlins in 2021. He was limited to just 71 games after undergoing season-ending surgery on his elbow to fix a partial UCL tear. Cooper is healthy heading into the 2022 season, but there are now some questions about his playing time after the Marlins brought in Jorge Soler and Avisail Garcia in free agency.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
