6 years agoGreen Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling caught only one pass for eight yards in a Thursday night matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Valdes-Scantling is ostensibly the No. 2 receiver in Green Bay but has put up a dud for the second straight week. Valdes-Scantling is fast, sure-handed, and is generally in the right spot. This resulted in a couple big games earlier this year where he was able to utilize his speed for some chunk plays. However, the rookie wide receiver is still raw and has struggled to create separation with defenders in man coverage. With defenses focusing on him more his production regressed. It seems like it is about to time reign in the optimism about Valdes-Scantling. He has a good deal of potential but is simply not a player who can be relied upon on week-to-week basis. He still has some value as a bye week fill in or as a high variability underdog flex play, but he doesn’t demand a roster spot going forward.--Tyger McGuiggan
