7 years agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Marquise Goodwin remains the team's top receiver this year despite the return of veteran Pierre Garcon from injury. Goodwin had a breakout season in 2017 with a career-high 56 catches for 962 yards and two touchdowns, and the early returns in training camp suggest that he could improve even more. “When you can beat man coverage like that on almost any route we give you, and he’s catching it consistently, we’re excited about his year,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said. “And (we) expect him to get a lot of opportunities.” In five games with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo last year, Goodwin had 29 receptions for 384 yards on short and intermediate routes.
