6 years agoHouston Astros catcher Martin Maldonado went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run and three runs driven in as the Astros edged the Mariners 10-7. Maldonado got into the action immediately in the first inning with an RBI single and then added his eighth home run of the season later in the game. The monster game now gives him 41 runs driven in on the season and raised his average up to .226. Maldonado also added three hits against Oakland on Monday and is beginning to take hold of the catching duties from Max Stassi. Brian McCann is still hopeful to return at some point in September but Maldonado should continue see plenty of at-bats for the time being over the next few weeks.--Joey C - RotoBaller
