2 years agoTexas Rangers left-hander Martin Perez is the kind of starting pitcher that non-contenders almost always move at the trade deadline, and he's on a one-year deal while earning a relatively modest $4 million. Despite his rough outing last weekend, Perez is fifth in the American League with a 2.18 ERA in 74 1/3 innings. But the best guess for Perez is that he'll remain with the Rangers, perhaps even signing an extension with them. The Rangers haven't had contract talks with Perez, according to sources, but he has enjoyed returning to the team that signed him when he was 16. The 31-year-old had a 5.15 ERA and averaged 107 innings the previous four seasons, so teams will likely view him as an aberration, meaning the Rangers probably won't get much in return.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
