Masahiro Tanaka Could Face Live Hitting On Tuesday
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (head) threw another bullpen session on Sunday, his second bullpen session since suffering a concussion on July 4. Manager Aaron Boone said that Tanaka could start facing live hitters as soon as Tuesday, putting him in line to miss no more than one start at the beginning of the season. It’s unlikely that Tanaka is ready for the start of the season, but he’s continuing to progress well from his concussion and should be ready in time for his second scheduled start. If Tanaka does miss his first start, then the Yankees can stagger their rotation such that Tanaka is skipped without replacing him with an additional starting pitcher, or replace Tanaka with Jonathan Loaisiga.
