4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka tossed five shutout, one-hit innings with five strikeouts against the Rays on Friday. Tanaka’s command looked excellent on Friday as he mostly kept his pitches around the edges of the strike zone. Encouragingly, Tanaka maintained his bounceback in his swinging-strike rate with a 17% mark on Friday, and his fastball remained fairly elevated. As a result, Tanaka should manage to post an ERA below 4.00 again this season, and his strikeout rate should get back up to pre-2019 levels.--Sam Chinitz
