Masahiro Tanaka Strikes Out Seven On Tuesday
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka looked good on Wednesday, striking out seven batters over six innings with two runs allowed. Tanaka’s slider was fantastic with 11 whiffs over 42 pitches (26% swinging-strike rate), and a home run off the bat of outfielder Kevin Kiermaier was the only real damage against the 31-year-old. Encouragingly, Tanaka’s pitch count got up to 88 pitches after topping out under 70 in his last start, so any injury concerns can be put to rest. Fantasy players should expect Tanaka to continue pitching well this season and post an ERA below 4.00 for the rest of the year.
