Matt Adams Headed For IL Stint, Ozzie Albies Possibly Joining
4 years agoAtlanta Braves first baseman/designated hitter Matt Adams appears destined for a stint on the injured list after being removed from Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays. In addition to manager Brian Snitker expressing the likelihood that Adams will not be at his disposal moving forward, he also addressed second baseman Ozzie Albies’ wrist injury and considered it a situation that the organization would monitor. Adams slugged his second homer of the year Tuesday, but has hit just .212 with a .660 OPS to open the 2020 year. Albies has been battling a wrist injury since the start of the season, having been shifted to the No. 7 spot in the order Tuesday, where he opted to bat left-handed versus a left-handed pitcher. Austin Riley, who also homered Tuesday, would figure to benefit most from Adams’ absence with an everyday lineup spot opened. Owners will want to stay abreast of updates as it pertains to Albies in the next few days.
