Matt Albers Is Most Likely Closer For Brewers
7 years agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Albers is most likely the next in line for saves for the Brewers after closer Corey Knebel (hamstring) went down with an injury and will be out for at least 10 days on the disabled list. In all three of Albers' appearances this season, he has pitched in the eighth inning as a setup man for the Brewers this year, so it's most likely logical that he would just move up the depth chart. Albers also rocked a very impressive 1.62 ERA last season with the Washington Nationals. However, Brewers manager Craig Counsell has not even put thought into who will pitch in the ninth, so expect an official answer sometime on Friday. Other options in the bullpen are Josh Hader, Jacob Barnes and Jeremy Jeffress. Keep in mind that Counsell could make this a closer-by-committee situation for however long Knebel may be out, which would make this situation tough to navigate for fantasy owners.
