4 years agoNew York Mets right-handed pitching prospect Matthew Allan has been working with Jacob deGrom during the early part of spring training. The Mets have paired Allan with deGrom in nearly all of their drills. They are hoping the 19-year old prospect, who is currently the Mets' fourth-ranked MLB Pipeline prospect, can learn a bit of what has made deGrom so successful. The 2019 draft pick has impressed team officials so far in his first big-league spring camp. That said, he will not break camp with the Mets or see major league action in 2021. He projects as a future SP2 who should reach the majors sometime in 2023. If he can develop under the tutelage of deGrom, his ceiling could even be higher.
