2 years agoHouston Texans kicker Matt Ammendola was waived by the team on Saturday, according to DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com. He was signed on Thursday because Ka'imi Fairbairn is dealing with a minor injury. Ammendola played in Friday's preseason game, hitting both of his extra points as well as a 45-yard field goal. However, he missed a 31-yard field-goal attempt in the process. Presumably, Ammendola's release means Fairbairn will be ready for Week 1, though it's possible that Houston has its eye on a different free agent kicker.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller
