Matt Breida Guts Out Solid Performance
6 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Matt Breida (ankle, shoulder) rushed 14 times for 61 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Green Bay Packers. He was not targeted. A game-time decision, Breida’s score was a three-yard plunge on the opening drive and he was breaking strong runs early on. Despite the injury and wearing down in the second half, Breida played the entire game, splitting touches with fourth-year back Raheem Mostert. Breida’s toughness and resilience makes him an ascending RB2 but the Niners will likely keep him in a timeshare to preserve his health and effectiveness. His practice reps will likely be regimented this week but expect him on the field Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
