6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter is batting first and playing third base in Tuesday's game against the New York Mets. Kolten Wong is starting at second, with Jedd Gyorko getting the day off. Carpenter is off to a slow start to the season, slashing just .174/.322/.319 in his first 20 games. He's spent most of the season batting third, with Tuesday being just his third time atop the order. The Cardinals batting order has been mostly fluid this season, but Carpenter will need to start hitting soon if he wants to remain in the top three.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
