Matt Chapman Homers, But Strikeout Issues Remain
3 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman blasted a three-run homer on Wednesday to help fuel a 10-run outburst in a win over the Padres. Chapman also struck out twice and his strikeout rate for the season is an unmanageable 31.6 percent. In addition to the homer, Chapman struck out twice versus San Diego as he's now whiffed eight times in his last 17 plate appearances. Chapman was held back by strikeouts last season and it appears the same is happening in 2021. He's got big upside when he's right,, but his batted ball metrics are well below his career averages and Chapman is whiffing too much to be trusted in standard-size fantasy leagues. He'll look to bounce back in a four-game set with the Angels this weekend.
