4 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman will lead off and handle DH duties in Wednesday's Spring Training game against the Brewers. Chapman has been hitting well thus far in spring including blasting a homer to dead-center in Tuesday's contest. The A's have an opening at the top of their order after Marcus Semien left in free agency. Chapman had a down season in 2020 but posted a .342 on-base percentage fueled by a 10.5 percent walk rate in 2019. If he can get back to those levels batting leadoff is certainly a possibility. He'll score more runs leading off, however, his RBI could take a hit if Oakland moves Chapman and his .503 career slugging percentage out of the middle of the order.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
