Matt Chapman Whiffs Twice Sunday As Strikeout Issues Persist

3 years agoOakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in a loss to the Blue Jays on Sunday. The former All-Star had a miserable 2020 season thanks to a whopping 35% strikeout rate and those issues have continued in 2021 as Chapman is whiffing 31.6% of the time this season. The strikeouts haven't totally sapped Chapman of fantasy value, he does have 24 homers this season, but the whiffs have torpedoed his batting average to just .224 as he's hurt fantasy managers in that department. Things won't get easier for Chapman and the slumping A's as the first-place White Sox roll into Oakland for a three-game set.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
