7 years agoThings are going from bad to worse for New York Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey. Making his fourth start of the season against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday, Harvey was rocked for the third straight outing. He allowed six earned runs on eight hits and a walk across six innings pitched, striking out four. The destruction brings his ERA for the season to an awful even 6.00 across 21 innings pitched. If there’s any consolation, it’s that his xFIP sits at a much lower 3.58, but don’t let that fool you. Good things are not on the way for Harvey, as opposing hitters are crushing him to the tune of a 40 percent hard-hit rate, and that doesn’t seem to be changing anytime soon. He’s looking like the easy choice for removal from the Mets rotation when Jason Vargas (hand) returns from injury within a week or two. Harvey should be dropped in most leagues.--John Smith
