Matt Harvey Gets Destroyed In Relief Again
7 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Matt Harvey was recently moved to the bullpen in an effort to help him find himself after consistently getting touched up as a starting pitcher, but this experiment is proving to be an equal failure. On Thursday against the Atlanta Braves, Harvey was rocked for five earned runs on three hits and three walks across two innings pitched, while only striking out one. Harvey attempted to justify it by saying he found a positive when he struck out Braves rookie phenom Ronald Acuna, but the excuses with each outing have grown beyond old. Since moving to the bullpen, Harvey owns a pathetic 10.50 ERA and 2.00 WHIP across six innings pitched. There will be some decisions to make here. If Harvey can’t be trusted as a starting pitcher or a reliever, there’s simply nothing left for the Mets to do with him. If the Mets attempt to demote Harvey to Triple-A, he has to accept any such assignment, so there could be drama brewing around the corner. It goes without saying Harvey should not be owned in any fantasy league right now, and possibly never again.
