7 years agoAfter New York Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey allowed six runs and eight hits over six innings in a loss to the Braves, manager Mickey Callaway stated that he is uncertain whether Harvey would make his next start. The pitcher formerly known as the Dark Knight has been abysmal all season, pitching to an 0-2 record with a 6.00 ERA over four starts. Clearly the Mets patience has been waning, and Harvey could be bumped from the rotation altogether. With Jason Vargas (hand) set to return from the disabled list soon, there's a very good chance he could take Harvey's spot in the rotation. When asked how Harvey would feel about a move to the bullpen, he said that he is a starter and always has been. Perhaps New York could look to insert Vargas into the rotation by dealing Harvey to a team willing to take a flier on him. Harvey's spot in the rotation looks anything but safe and owners should be wary of an upcoming demotion.--Dan Fappiano
