7 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey hasn’t had the easiest of roads, but after one start, so far so good in 2018. Harvey dominated the Philadelphia Phillies over five innings pitched on Tuesday, allowing just one hit with five strikeouts and zero walks across 86 pitches in a 2-0 win. Harvey’s velocity wasn’t quite what we saw during spring training, as he was regularly sitting around 93 mph on Tuesday, but manager Mickey Callaway brushed it off. The conditions in Queens were wet, uncomfortable and far from ideal, and Callaway believes Harvey will eventually hit 96 mph as it gets warmer. All in all, it was a great outing for Harvey, who had the Phillies fooled and off balance for the duration of his start. Harvey has an even more attractive matchup on Monday when the Mets take the Marlins on in Miami. If you were bold enough to start him on Tuesday, then you should absolutely be starting him again.--John Smith
