Matt Harvey Traded To The Reds
7 years agoFormer All-Star and New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey has been traded to the Cincinnati Reds for catcher Devin Mesoraco. After starting the year with a 7.00 ERA in 27 innings pitched and refusing to go to Triple-A, it was evident that Harvey needed a change of scenery. With the Reds being 30th in the league in ERA and home runs given up, Harvey provides a no-risk, high-potential option for the Reds rotation. Harvey will join the team sometime during the upcoming Reds-Dodgers series in Los Angeles. They will work with him to hopefully try to bring out his 2013 self, where he pitched to a 2.01 ERA in 178 1/3 innings pitched. However, with Great American Ball Park being one of the friendliest ballparks for hitting, it doesn't make for ideal conditions to revitalize your career. Harvey will be worth taking a flier on in deeper leagues and should only be owned in shallower leagues if he can string a couple of good starts together.
