Matt Joyce To DH In Lieu Of Field Sunday
7 years agoOakland Athletics outfielder Matt Joyce (elbow) will serve as the designated hitter Sunday against the Cubs, according to Jon Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle. Joyce has been dealing with a sore right elbow, so he will need another week before he is able to play in the outfield. Additionally, he will start a throwing program Sunday to build up strength slowly. At 33 years old, Joyce is trying to build upon a career year with 78 runs, 25 home runs and 68 RBI, albeit with a .243 batting average. Joyce is not fantasy relevant unless you are in an AL-only league and have roster space to play his splits -- .252 career average against right-handers, while only .185 against left-handed pitchers.
