Matt Magill Blows Save Against Rays
5 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Matt Magill allowed two runs without recording an out to blow the save Wednesday at Tampa Bay. Magill was tasked with protecting a one-run lead after the Mariners rallied in the top of the ninth, but faced four batters without recording an out as the Rays walked off with the win. Magill had gotten the previous two saves for Seattle and only allowed one hit and no runs in his previous five appearances, but clearly didn't have it this afternoon. Magill's recent success and 28.1 percent strikeout rate should get him another chance, but the Seattle closer job has been fluid most of the season so he'll need to bounce back in his next appearance. Magill should be owned in leagues where saves are scarce but has little value in any other format.
