Matt Manning Shelled In Shortest Outing
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matt Manning was chased in the third inning Sunday, the shortest start yet for the rookie right-hander. Manning was shelled for seven hits and two earned runs in 2 2/3 innings against the White Sox, lifting his ERA to 7.94 over four games. Scouts had expected Manning to struggle early as he develops his secondary pitches, according to Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic, but the hurler's upside remains tantalizing. We'd recommend owners hang onto Manning if they've already invested and have the roster depth to keep him benched for now. He could also be buy-low trade target in dynasty and keeper formats, although pitching prospects tend to be riskier than young hitters.
