7 years agoIn a 7-2 loss against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Texas Rangers deployed starting pitcher Matt Moore out of the bullpen for an inning of relief. Moore retired all three batters he faced, but this was a minor surprise. Up until now, the 28-year-old has been used exclusively in the starting rotation. This appearance casts a tremendous amount of doubt on his future role with the Rangers, even though it was thought possible he could used in relief during a long stretch between starts. In retrospect, a removal from at least a regular spot in the rotation would be long overdue, as Moore has struggled this season to the tune of a 5.55 ERA, 4.04 FIP, and just 17 strikeouts in 24.1 innings.--Sean Scampton
