4 years agoToronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Matt Shoemaker was placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday’s contest against Tampa Bay due to inflammation in his pitching shoulder. Shoemaker has yielded an American League-high eight home runs through his first five starts, having compiled an unseemly 6.08 FIP despite producing a 1.01 WHIP. The loss of Shoemaker makes for another blow to the Toronto rotation, who is already without Nate Pearson (elbow) for the foreseeable future. Should Shoemaker get his home run bugaboo under control, he could return to season-long relevance, but that combined with his current injury makes him an avoidable commodity at this stage.--Jesse Borek
