5 years agoDespite the recent struggles for the Detroit Tigers, starting pitcher Matthew Boyd is a strong play Tuesday against an equally bad Orioles squad. The ace of the Detroit staff with Michael Fulmer (elbow) out for the year, Boyd has turned in a 3.11 ERA with 80 strikeouts in 66 2/3 innings of work. Baltimore has the 22nd-ranked offense in terms of runs scored this season and Boyd has held opponents to a .200 batting average in road starts this season. If he fails to notch a win, it will likely be due to the Tigers' own offensive ineptitude, not Boyd's.--Tyler Germain - RotoBaller
