7 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd (oblique) was cruising on Tuesday against the Twins, firing four innings of scoreless ball, before suffering a left oblique spasm that cut his evening short. When Boyd walked the first two batters he faced in the fifth inning, he was visited by pitching coach Chris Bosio and ultimately the team's head trainer. That visit resulted in an early exit for the young lefty. The team is calling him day-to-day and don't expect Boyd to miss any time. They wanted to play it safe considering the mountain of injuries the team is already dealing with.--Tyler Germain - RotoBaller
