Matthew Boyd Expected To Miss More Time
3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd (forearm) is dealing with muscular tendonitis, Cody Stavenhagen reported on Friday. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Boyd has seen "a number of doctors" and that structural damage has been ruled out. A timetable hasn't been set for Boyd's return, but it appears highly unlikely he would be back before the All-Star break. The 30-year-old southpaw is having a bounce-back season with a 3.44 ERA, but his lack of strikeouts (56 in 70 2/3 innings) limits his fantasy upside. He's not a must-hold in shallow formats. Wily Peralta is slated to get the start in Boyd's place on Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels. The veteran right-hander posted a 2.75 ERA in six starts for Triple-A Toledo this season but isn't expected to pitch deep into the game, making him a weak streaming option.
