Matthew Boyd Expects To Be Ready By June
3 years agoLeft-handed pitcher Matthew Boyd (elbow), who was designated for assignment by the Detroit Tigers just before the lockout began in early December, said he expects to be ready for game action in early June after having surgery last September to fix the flexor tendon in his left arm. The 31-year-old southpaw said his "elbow feels better than it ever has," and he's been throwing from up to 75 feet. Boyd expects to begin throwing bullpen sessions in the last two weeks of March. Interested teams may want to wait to make sure that his recovery is going smoothly before adding him to their roster when/if the lockout ends. Boyd obviously won't be a fantasy asset in single-year leagues to begin the 2022 season, but he could become worth a waiver-wire pickup, depending on his health and where he lands.
