6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd struck out a career-high 13 batters on Wednesday as the Tigers topped the Yankees. Boyd went 6 1/3 innings and scattered five hits, allowing one run on the day. This outing, coupled with his previous start which saw him strike out 10, puts him behind only Jacob deGrom in the strikeout category thus far. It's obviously a pretty small sample size, but to say Boyd is off on the right foot would be a bit of an understatement. He'll take on the Indians in his next trip to the hill, a team that has also been weakened by injuries early on this year.--Tyler Germain - RotoBaller
