Matthew Boyd Headed To Seattle
2 years agoThe Seattle Mariners acquired left-hander Matthew Boyd (elbow) from the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. Boyd has yet to pitch in 2022 and was shut down in mid-June after he felt discomfort in his elbow while recovering from left flexor tendon surgery. The 31-year-old southpaw was cleared to resume throwing off a mound last week, though. In his last season with the Detroit Tigers in 2021, he went 3-8 with a 3.89 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 67 strikeouts and 23 walks in 78 2/3 innings over 15 starts. It's unclear if Boyd will be an option for the Mariners rotation at some point late in the second half of the 2022 season.
