3 years agoThe San Francisco Giants signed free-agent left-hander Matthew Boyd to a one-year, $5.2 million deal on Wednesday evening. The deal includes $2.3 million in incentives. Boyd becomes the fifth starting pitcher signed or re-signed by the Giants this offseason following Anthony DeSclafani, Alex Wood, Alex Cobb and Carlos Rodon. The 31-year-old southpaw had surgery to fix a flexor tendon in his left arm in September and isn't expected to be ready for game action until sometime this summer. In 15 starts for the Detroit Tigers before his injury in 2021, he had a 3.89 ERA and 1.27 WHIP while striking out 67 and walking 23 in 78 2/3 innings. Boyd will give San Fran some more rotation depth in the second half if he's healthy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
