Matthew Boyd Makes Strong Season Debut
7 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd was efficient and effective against the Royals on Tuesday. The young lefty tossed six innings of one-run ball, scattering four hits and striking out one while issuing no walks on the day. Unfortunately for Boyd, he was outmatched by Jakob Junis, who held the Tigers to just three hits and no runs. Still, it was a positive outing for Boyd, who is building off a strong finish to the 2017 season and an equally strong run through spring training. Boyd pitched to a 2.95 ERA last September and was 4-0 with a 3.42 ERA in Grapefruit League play. There's fantasy value here in some AL-only leagues or as a daily option against teams who struggle against lefties.
