Matthew Boyd Posts Second Straight Scoreless Outing
5 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd took the hill on Tuesday against the struggling Orioles and did exactly what he was supposed to do, holding the Orioles scoreless over six innings of work with eight strikeouts and just one walk. He scattered six hits in the outing. Boyd has been a pleasant surprise in a weak Tigers rotation, posting a 5-4 record with a 2.11 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings of work. His 2.78 FIP suggests that we can expect solid production to continue for Boyd going forward. A road start in Atlanta is next on the docket for Boyd.
