Matthew Boyd Roughed Up By Pirates
7 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd couldn't escape the third inning on Wednesday, turning in his worst outing of the young season. Boyd had entered Wednesday's game with three consecutive starts in which he went at least six innings and allowed no more than one run, so this performance against a sputtering Pittsburgh offense comes as a surprise. All told, he allowed 10 base runners and four runs in 3 2/3 innings of work, raising his season ERA to 2.74. He'll look to bounce back Wednesday against Tampa Bay.
