3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd (elbow) will undergo surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his left arm, Jason Beck of MLB.com reported. The 30-year-old southpaw was sidelined for more than two months this season due to discomfort in his left arm and has struggled since returning, going 1-4 in his last starts with a 6.10 ERA and surrendered 21 earned runs in the process. There is no timetable yet for Boyd to return to the mound, although the Tigers are optimistic he will be able to pitch next season.--Chelena Goldman
