3 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd will take the mound on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Boyd has been one of Detroit's best starters this season, pitching to a 3.89 ERA, a 4.10 FIP, 67 strikeouts, and 23 walks in 78.2 innings spanning 15 starts. However, in two starts since returning from the injured list, Boyd has surrendered nine hits, seven earned runs, four home runs, and three walks in eight innings. He also struck out 11 in that span, but the recent struggles make it hard to trust the left-hander in a tough matchup against the Rays. Tampa Bay has scored the most runs in baseball. The team also ranks in the top five in wRC+ and home runs. If you have better rotation options on Friday, it might be smart to leave Boyd on the bench.--Ben Rosener - RotoBaller
